Performance at Dorset Council

We track how we are doing across our council year round. This ensures we:
  • achieve set goals and priorities
  • meet our statutory requirements
  • provide efficient services to give value for money
  • improve outcomes for residents and visitors to Dorset
  • base decisions on strong evidence

Performance indicators

We manage these across the council and report them externally and internally. Levels involved include:
  • operational - managing service delivery of teams
  • management team - keeping management informed and allowing them to make key decisions
  • senior leadership - informing the Senior Leadership Team of strategic issues. This helps them make decisions based on evidence
  • Transformation and Performance Board - updating portfolio holders about indicators that influence the way we deliver services
  • Cabinet - reporting progress linked to Council Plan priorities
  • scrutiny committees - scrutinising the performance indicators reported to senior leadership
