The Dorset Council Plan for 2022-24 sets out an ambitious transformation programme across our services. Putting our customers first is at the heart of the plan and a big focus for development within adult social care. That means that when we design and deliver improvements to our services, that we should be doing it in partnership with the people who use them.

Our priorities for developing adult services

Our ‘A Better Life’ strategies were adopted in February 2023. The documents outline our key priorities for service development and our future plans for the delivery for adult social care. We know that we want to help you live a better life in your own home, as part of your community and with a support network of family, friends, neighbours and good services. We want to be at the heart of your own care and support that creates opportunity and preserves your way of life.

How you can get involved

As part of our commitment to listen and learn from the people who use our services, we’d like to invite Dorset residents to contribute to this work. On this page, you will find a growing list of different activities that you can help with, ranging from answering surveys, to joining focus groups or becoming an active part of the programme by working alongside us in meetings.

We will update this page with new opportunities as they come up. We will also share progress on our work as we start making improvements together.

Current opportunities

Making how you contact us for the first time better

Help us redesign our 'front door'. This refers to all the ways that our customers contact us or find the information they need.

We have launched a transformation programme to redesign our front door services which will ensure that people will have a consistently good service when they contact us and so that they can find clear, relevant information easily. The team are seeking volunteers who would be willing to join us to support this work.
