Freedom of Information (FOI)

Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations 2004

Anyone can make an Freedom of Information (FOI) request for recorded information held by the council. We will decide whether an information request should be dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) or The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR).

We also publish information such as facts, figures, maps etc about the following topics:

• council owned land and buildings
• contracts register
• grants to voluntary organisations
• management structure top 3 tiers and contacts
• open data and transparency
• parking revenues and spaces
• payments to suppliers over £500
• public health funerals in dorset
• responsibilities and salaries of senior staff

Requests for personal data

If however you would like to request personal data about yourself or a child you have parental responsibility for, you will need to submit a Subject Access Request (SAR) under the Data Protection Act. In this case please use our SAR form instead.

Costs of making requests

FOI and EIR requests are normally answered free of charge but there are circumstances where a charge may be made. See additional information about associated fees
