There are two health walks in Weymouth which are mostly flat.
The route taken on the day is agreed at the beginning of the walk and is dependent on the ability and preference of those attending.
All abilities are welcome and the walk can stretch out to different paces. There is no pressure and no one is ever left behind as the pace of the walk is dictated by the rear walker. Our walks last approximately 45 minutes.
Dogs on a discretionary basis, please get in touch with the local contact before attending.
Town/village | Meeting place | Type of walk | Day | Time |
---|---|---|---|---|
Weymouth | Meet between the Jubilee Clock and Prom Cafe at the advertising drum | We walk along the Promenade towards Greenhill Gardens (where there is an incline into the gardens) or the Stone Pier and return to the beginning | Thursdays | 10:30am |
Monthly longer walk
On the third Tuesday of the month there is a longer walk of up to four miles. The walks start at 2pm. The start location changes each month. Duration is approximately 80 to 90 minutes. The walk will include non-pavement paths and through fields, so please wear appropriate footwear.
Date | Location | Walk description |
---|---|---|
Tuesday 16 September | Meeting near the brick building at the Park & Ride (just up the road from Sainsburys - free parking at DT3 5HJ / bus route no.2) |
We will follow "Brian's route" down past the rugby club and part of Lodmoor Country Park, returning via the path through RSPB Lodmoor with the best viewing points - so if you have binoculars, do bring them! The walk will be on flat paths with tarmac or gravel surfaces - no mud expected but always a chance of puddles and showers so, as ever, please wear suitable footwear and clothing. The likely duration is 80 to 90 minutes depending on our pace on the day - we will take a mid-way rest stop where there are benches and viewing points. |
Health questionnaire
If you are a new walker to the Weymouth health walk scheme, we ask that you complete an annual Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire on arrival. Please allow an extra 10 minutes to complete the form. We ask you to complete this once a year or if your health condition changes.
