Thanks to funding from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), Swanage Railway now boasts 21st-century technology as part of the Rural Connectivity Accelerator programme.
Partnering with Excelerate Technology UK, we've deployed specialised mobile and satellite-powered public Wi-Fi at key locations:
- Purbeck Park car park
- Norden train station
- On board the train
This project has transformed visitor experiences and demonstrated how advanced technologies can improve services in remote areas. Reliable connectivity is now a reality, even in challenging landscapes, thanks to the projects innovative connectivity solutions.
Swanage Railway, contributing over £15 million to the Dorset economy annually, now offers enhanced services and cashless systems, solidifying its status as a vital tourist attraction.
