Notice of Public Local Inquiry
Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996 (‘the Regulations’) – Regulation 9
Notice is hereby given that an Inspector will be appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to determine the proposal to make the ‘The Dorset Council Traffic Management Scheme (Various Roads, Shaftesbury) (No.*) Order 202*’, commonly known as the ‘Shaftesbury Bus Gate’ (‘the Proposed Order’).
And will attend at:
The Grosvenor Arms, The Commons, Shaftesbury, Dorset, SP7 8JA
On Tuesday 9 September 2025 at 10am
To hold a public local inquiry into the Proposed Order.
The general effect of the Proposed Order will be to prohibit any vehicle (except local buses and pedal cycles):
- to enter or proceed on a section along Mampitts Road, Shaftesbury
- from Pound Lane onto Mampitts Road, Shaftesbury
Relevant exemptions will apply where appropriate and as necessary in accordance with the provisions of the Proposed Order.
Any person wishing to view the statements of case and other documents relating to this Order may do so by appointment at County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1XJ or they can be viewed on the council’s website at: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/tros.

Written representations need to be with the council no later than 28 August 2025.
