Dorset Libraries are safe welcoming spaces where you can:

  • find out information about local services and other organisations who can offer support
  • borrow books
  • use the computers
  • access printing
  • access free wifi
  • access our extensive e-services with a library card

Activities and events

There are a range of activities and events for adults such as:

Digital services

Our libraries offer free public computer sessions, free wifi and printing facilities. Digital champions are available to support individuals on their digital journey including learning new skills. You can book onto face to face digital champion sessions or call the Digital Hotline on 01305 221048.

Joining the library

Digital library membership

You can join online for a digital membership which provides access to e-resources including:

  • e-books
  • e-audio
  • e-magazines
  • e-newspapers
  • e-comics
  • e-reference

You can also download the LibrariesWest app and make the most of your library membership on the go.  Select Languages and pick your language from the options available.

Library membership

You can convert your digital membership to a full membership to borrow books, audiobooks and DVDs, by visiting your local library with proof of address.

If you don’t have proof of address, we offer light membership which means you can borrow up to 4 items.  With light membership proof of identity is required to use the public computers.

World book collections

Over 30 world languages are available so search the catalogue. Use the advanced search and limit by language, then search without any other terms. We have children’s books as well in multiple languages.
