Case Study: Hazel builds confidence and applies new digital skills at the Dorset Sunflower Trail

Hazel Hoskins, who helps with the Dorset Sunflower Trail, recently took part in the two‑day hospitality masterclass delivered at the Weymouth Digital Skills Hub. The course introduced a range of practical digital marketing tools and approaches, including design techniques, AI features and short‑term content planning.

A positive and engaging learning experience

Hazel particularly enjoyed the interaction with the lecturer, finding the teaching style friendly, accessible, and easy to follow. The way the sessions were delivered helped her understand how to apply the skills directly within her business setting.

Putting new skills into action straight away

Since completing the course, Hazel has been getting on really well and is already putting her new skills into practice. She has been using what she learned to support the Dorset Sunflower Trail — an annual event where a sunflower field is opened to the public to raise money for good causes.

The training has helped her strengthen her online skills, and it has supported her with short‑term organisation and planning, making it easier to get things lined up and ready ahead of time.

A course she would happily revisit and recommend

She felt the course offered plenty of useful information and would recommend it to others working in the local hospitality or tourism sector. She is also enthusiastic about returning to deepen and extend her new skills, keeping her digital confidence growing as the business evolves.
