We recognise that roadworks can be an inconvenience, but they are still essential for maintaining and improving infrastructure we all rely upon.
Many works are undertaken by organisations other than the council, like utility companies - all responsible for maintaining and installing their apparatus and networks. If you are impacted by road works, the organisations responsible for the work itself are best placed to help and advise you.
You should be able to identify which organisation is responsible for roadworks because it is a requirement that they provide information boards on site. These boards should provide contact numbers for general enquiries. You can also identify the organisation responsible using our roadworks map.
By contacting the right organisation, you help us direct our time to providing essential frontline services.
These organisations undertake a significant proportion of works in your area.

When to contact the council
Please contact us if works ownership is unclear or unknown, or to report:
- unsafe works sites or hazards
- issues with reinstatements after works
- signs and apparatus left after works have finished
- when we've fallen short of our commitments to you
If you contact us about specific works, your enquiry may be redirected to the organisation responsible if we think they are best placed to advise you.
