Speed limit enforcement

Enforcement of speed limits

Dorset Police (Dorset Road Safe) are responsible for enforcing speed limits. Reports of excessive speed should be referred for investigation.

Alternatives to enforcement

Community Speed Watch

Community Speed Watch (CSW) is a partnership initiative that is aimed at raising awareness and encouraging speed reduction. See Community Speed Watch for more information.

Community Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs)

A Speed Indicator Device (SID) is a temporary vehicle activated illuminated sign used by local communities to display vehicle speeds. SIDs help to raise driver awareness of local speed limits and are proven to reduce traffic speeds at appropriate locations. See community speed indicator devices (SIDs) for more information
