As part of Dorset Council’s ongoing traffic signal refurbishment programme, two pedestrian crossings are being upgraded on Station Road in West Moors.

Work will start on 19 February at the pedestrian crossing on Station Road north of Pennington Road, with the refurbishment work lasting three weeks.

This will be followed with the refurbishment of the pedestrian crossing on Station Road south of Riverside Road. Work is scheduled to start here on 4 March and last three weeks.

The equipment at these locations was installed in April 1997 and has reached the end of its maintainable life. It needs upgrading with new, modern equipment.

A temporary pedestrian crossing will be in place at the works location to ensure pedestrians can continue to safely cross the busy road. Due to the temporary configuration of the lights, this may mean longer waiting times for pedestrians.

There will be disruption while construction works take place and we encourage all road users to take extra time when planning their journey in this area.
