Sustainability appraisal
In preparing the Core Strategy Pre-Submission document, the Council is required by law to carry out a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) and a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of this document.
The government recommends that the two requirements are met through one process.
Thus this document incorporates both the SA and the SEA requirements, and for simplicity will be referred to as a "Sustainability Appraisal" (SA). Its aim is to achieve sustainable development.
The full report of the SA includes an Equalities Impact Assessment and a Health Impact Assessment.
