Dorset History Centre square logo

Dorset History Centre is the archives service and local studies library for Bournemouth, Christchurch, Dorset and Poole.
We house Dorset's local archives - from council records to personal collections.

Dorset History Centre has reopened

We are now open to the public on a limited basis, with access to original documents only. There is currently no access to microfilms or computers. You will need to make an appointment before visiting us, by emailing archives@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk. We have carefully risk assessed the public spaces and the procedures necessary to keep both staff and visitors safe.

Opening hours

Dorset History Centre is open 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday and 9am to 4:30pm on the first and third Saturday of each month.
