Overview

You need a charity collection permit if:

  • you want to collect money for a charity on the street
  • you want to collect money or clothing for a charity by going house to house

Permits are granted to registered charities and charitable organisations or groups.

Apply

Please note we have recently moved to a new system. This means any existing accounts used to apply for charity collection permits are now discontinued and you will need to register for a new account before you can apply again.

After you apply

When we receive your application we will make sure that:

  • the collection will not inconvenience the public because of the day of the week, time or the frequency at which it is held
  • the collection does not, as far as possible, take place on the same day as another authorised collection

Collection returns

When the collection is finished you must submit a return form showing how much was collected and any expenses.
