Animal welfare
Do you board, sell or train animals for exhibition?
You may need a licence. This can apply even if you do not charge a fee or if you are a charity.
If you carry out these activities without the appropriate licence, you may be committing an offence under the Animal Welfare Act.
We can take enforcement action if needed. This may include issuing a penalty notice (up to £5,000), depending on the circumstances. If a penalty is not paid, we may consider prosecution.
If you plan to continue these activities, you’ll need to apply for the correct licence.
