The council is undertaking a community governance review of the parishes of Chalbury, Colehill, Crichel, Holt, Horton, Verwood, West Moors and Witchampton. The review has been triggered by the receipt of a petition from residents of Furzehill seeking to establish a new parish and includes other areas which were deferred from the 2014 review.

The review will be conducted in accordance with the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 and other relevant legislation. Regard will be given to the Guidance on community governance reviews issued by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and the Local Government Boundary Commission for England.

The review must be completed within 12 months and commenced on 5 September 2017 following the publication of the terms of reference and timetable.

East Dorset District Council has published the draft recommendations  and maps following Community Governance Review Submissions received during Stage 1 of the review.  The closing date for comments regarding the draft recommendations can be emailed to cgr@christchurchandeastdorset.gov.uk and must be received by midnight on 31 May 2018.
