Public engagement

In developing the final options which formed the reorganisation orders, the council undertook two rounds of consultation and engagement.

Stage 1 (Invitation of Initial Submissions) ran from 7 April to 6 July 2014. Local electors and other interested parties were invited to submit their views on existing arrangements in their local area, together with any proposals for change.

A Task and Finish Group considered the representations received and made a series of draft recommendations to the council's Resources Committee and subsequently full council meeting on 1 September 2014.

1 September 2014 - Committee Calendar Modern Gov. These draft recommendations were approved by the council, which formed the formal draft recommendations for wider consultation. A revision to the timetable was also approved by council bringing forward the final decision on the Review to 15 December 2014.

During Stage 3 (Consultation on Draft Recommendations) local electors and other interested parties were invited for their views on these recommendations. A consultation paper, maps showing the proposed parishes and parish wards of East Dorset and details of how to comment were available for download.

The representations received were considered by the Task and Finish Group and were used to inform the final recommendations, which were presented to the council's Resources Committee and subsequently full council meeting on 15 December 2014.
