The Dorset Harbours Strategy aims to provide long term strategic direction for the sustainable development of the three Dorset Council harbours, namely Weymouth, Bridport (West Bay) and Lyme Regis (The Cobb).
There are 38 Dorset Council owned and maintained sewage treatment works (STW) and Septic Tanks (STs) in rural areas of East Dorset. As the operator Dorset Council must meet the general binding rules for these small treatment works and septic tanks, failure to do so can result in unlimited fines and potential prosecution and imprisonment. Both the current sewerage network and administration of the services are out of date and in need of updating in line with current legislation.
Dorset Council already has in place an agreed policy for the Recycle for Dorset service. 3 changes to that policy are being proposed.
Firstly, there are a small number of properties, commonly in rural locations, where the existing collection point is far from the highway - this is particularly in cases where there are long unadopted private driveways.
