Having the opportunity to study for an MSc in Spatial Planning at Oxford Brookes University was brilliant. Studying alongside a full-time job was challenging, especially during the pandemic, but it was worth it!
Dorset Council were very supportive during my studies, through day release and allowing me to attend field trips that were part of the course. Dorset Council also provided me with experience of spatial planning whilst studying. The course covered a variety of planning related subjects, allowing me to transfer the skills and knowledge learned in the course into my day-to-day job as a Planning Officer within the Development Management Team.
I am currently working towards becoming a Chartered Planner through RTPI. I am enjoying working for Dorset Council in a great and supportive team, knowing that we make a positive difference to residents and visitors by making sure each application has a beneficial impact on our area.
