How to book
You need to email leisure@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk to book places in advance. You need to state your:
- name
- address
- telephone number
- chosen workshop/s
- number of spaces
- child name/s
Bookings close on Wednesday 9 July and allocation will take place on Thursday 10 July 2025.
After allocation, any remaining spare places will be advertised on our Artz + Sportz+ Facebook page.
Due to high demand for places, you may not always get all the activities you request. We will offer all children at least one activity per holiday. This will be more in the 6-week holidays. We will confirm places by email after we have places for each child.
Unless otherwise stated, events cost £7.65 per child for 2/3 hours, £10.20 for 4 hours and £12.85 for 5 hours or more. There is a 20% subsidy for those on income-based benefits.
Advertised Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) events are free to families with a HAF code.
Any HAF activities where a hot meal will be available, families who are not eligible for a HAF code the hot meal will cost £5. You will be given an order form and a choice to opt out of the hot meal.
We will refund you if:
- you cancel more than 2 weeks before an event
- if we have to cancel an event
Parents need to stay for the child’s first session. This is so your child can get to know the team and to feel comfortable in this new environment. This also gives the staff the chance to get to know your child. It helps them to understand their needs for support in their next session. You will be allocated a support worker at this first session.

It will be a very relaxed performance catering for children with SEND with 1:1 support available with the Artz+ team and you can bring a sibling for free to the show. For parents who would like to stay they are welcome to stay and enjoy the show at no cost.
After the show there will be an additional workshop, where we have 16 places available, so booking is essential. In the workshop you will be invited to get involved and investigate an art forgery case and try to crack the case.

Come and create your very own ‘pizza slice puppet’ and pizza, complete with your favourite toppings.
It could be extra cheesy shortcrust or deep pan pepperoni with olives, the choice is yours. Get even more creative and design a logo for your take-away pizza box, and don’t forget to list all the colourful pizza ingredients on the menu.
Using cardboard, fabrics, newspaper and masking tape, it will be messy fun.
Make your own real pizza for lunch with the Friendly Food Club, and in the afternoon join in the outdoor activities with bat and field games, archery and of course the Bouncy Castle.

What can you spot in our nature bingo game as we take a short walk along the top of Fontmell Down to the Forest School? Maybe a beautiful bug, some pretty flowers or soaring birds?

Big Drawing & Bounce Fun

Use your whole body to create a larger than life piece of art in this amazing, fun workshop led by artist Jo Burlington from ‘Oops Wow’.
Have a go at drawing on the grandest scale ever, as you are swung over the floor, supported by a hammock. Hide in a tube to make a You (in a) Tube drawing. Draw around your body and transform into anything you can imagine.
Make sure you wear clothes that can get messy.

Travel Back in Time at the Ancient Technology Centre (HAF)

Take a journey back in time and become a victorious Viking or a remarkable Roman for the day, at the brilliant and very exciting Ancient Technology Centre.
We will be having fun with some hands on farming and having a go at construction work making cob bricks, as well as cordage,making ropes, then playing, and winning, some hearty Viking games. And if time allows, they’ll even be a gripping story at the end of the day, to round off your time travel adventures.

TEENZ Coastal Explorer RIB Ride

Take an exciting ride in a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) with Lyme Bay RIB Charters along the coast from West Bay to Lyme Regis, enjoy time on the beach in Lyme Regis before heading back along the Jurassic Coast keeping a watch out for wildlife.
Social time over soft drinks/ice creams in West Bay to finish.
