Verge cutting programme 2024

Maintenance of roadside verges in the Dorset Council area is delivered by our Greenspace Service and is divided into two distinct programmes:

• urban areas – for roads with speed limits of 30mph and below
• rural areas – for roads with speed limits of 40mph and above

Use the verge cutting schedules below to find when the roadside verges in these areas will be cut.  

Urban verges

Cut & drop:

Cut 1 - 25 March to 12 May

Cut 2 - 13 May to 30 June

Cut 3 - 1 July to 18 August

Cut 4 - 19 August to 6 October

Cut 5 - 7 October to 24 November

Cut & collect

Cut 1 - 15 April to 21 July

Cut 2 - 22 July to 27 October

Check where urban sealed surface spraying will be taking place.

C and D roads

Cut 1 - 17 June to 25 August

Narrow lane cut with a small tractor

Cut 1 - 29 July to 1 September
