This information is for schools and educational settings. We have developed some lesson plans and fun activities which can be used in class to inform conversations about planning, what makes a good place to live, what do you love about where you live, how would you change it…

We have two big consultations happening right now until the 13 October:

  1. The Local Plan – about homes, green spaces, jobs and community development
  2. The Local Transport Plan – about how we move around Dorset now and in the future

These plans will shape Dorset for years to come, and we want to hear from students of all ages. The consultations are a chance for students to have their say on the future of Dorset from where they’ll live, how they’ll travel, and where they might work.

What’s available?

We have created activity packs to help students explore what makes a good place to live and how planning affects their communities.

There are tailored resources for:

  • lower primary
  • upper primary
  • secondary students
  • sixth form students

These activities are designed to spark discussion and support responses to the consultations. They can be used in class or as homework, and are a great way to get students thinking about their local area and future.

Easy-read versions
