Funds were awarded to this Portland based initiative to extend their existing offer to include more physical opportunities for people through the creation of the EPIC Games Arena. This is a flexible space in which we worked with our volunteers and users to develop, design, and run physical; games-based activities. To kick-start this new offer with EPIC Snipers, a foam dart battle-based experience featuring safe, foam-firing toy weaponry.
The key objective of EPIC Snipers is to deliver a fun and immersive physical experience that caters to those who would never normally access sport through conventional means.
Sessions were held in Portland, with a range of different settings including indoors and out, from sports halls and youth centres to playgrounds and forests managed by an EPIC Games Coordinator, supported by experienced volunteers. From this project two weekly club based sessions and four annual events were developed for the wider community with a bespoke package that can be purchased by other groups and educational establishments.
All ages and abilities attended the sessions.
