The Dorset Council Project Fund contributed to funds to complete the installation of a set of outdoor gym equipment which has been installed in an existing community area in Cattistock.
This now provides an amenity for all the community with targeted work to engage teenagers and older people.
This equipment enhances the use of the existing community space and adds to equipment already in place and is being used by younger members of the community. The physical and mental beneficial qualities of exercising outside can now be realized.
The community will work with Frome Valley Parish Council to ensure the ongoing maintenance and safe use of the equipment to enable them to continue to support the social, health and wellbeing of the community.
The project created over 50 volunteer hours with 5 key volunteers driving the project and 20 members of the community involved. Between 60 to 100 people will now benefit from the use of the equipment.
Further information on the equipment available and instructions on how to use the equipment can be found on the Cattistock Community website.
Quotes
“There is a general excitement from a large number of village residents who want and have in some cases used the equipment already, even in the very inclement weather that we experienced. A number of people are eager to start using it on a regular basis.”
