We offer 2 types of chargers through our partners:

There are a mixture of lower powered chargers and faster rapid chargers.

The slower chargers will charge most cars and vans in around 4 to 8 hours. These chargers are in locations where people usually park for longer visits. They provide lower cost charging than rapid chargers.

Rapid chargers (50 kW and above) tend to be where drivers stop for short breaks of under an hour, as you can get a decent top-up charge in that time. They cost more to use than lower powered chargers.

The driver portal map shows public charge points on the Mer network.

If you are charging at electric vehicle bays in our car parks, car parking costs may apply. See the car park signage for prices.

How to report a problem

If you experience a problem with a charge point on the Mer network, please report it straight away. You can find the operator contact details displayed on the charge point. You can also check Zap Map to find an alternative charge point nearby.

Be.EV has acquired the Mer Public Charging Network

The Mer public electric vehicle (EV) charging network has now been acquired by Be.EV.

Drivers who use Mer charge points will begin to see Be.EV pricing, branding, payment systems and customer support introduced across the network over the next few months. See the Be.EV website for a full overview of the EV charging network and live availability.

While this work is taking place, some chargers are going through technical updates behind the scenes so they can operate properly within the new platform. We have been informed that both Mer and Be.EV systems will be available, so drivers who want to charge should have no issues using either.

There may be times when some drivers may run into issues if trying to start a charging session through the Mer app at chargers now displaying Be.EV branding. We recommend downloading and using the Be.EV app when charging at these locations.

Be.EV app

The Mer app will stop working for the chargers after the transition period. It is recommended to use Be.EV’s app instead.

Users of the app benefit from:

  • access to Be.EV’s best prices, including the industry-leading 39p/kWh Mega subscription tariff
  • locate available chargers
  • start, view and stop charging sessions
  • access history and VAT receipts
  • manage payment methods and subscriptions

Download the app via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Charging with Be.EV

You can continue to use the charge points as normal. Be.EV offers several payment methods, including:

  • the Be.EV app
  • RFID charging card
  • contactless card
  • WebPay
  • selected roaming partners including Octopus Electroverse, Zap-Pay and many more

For assistance in using one of Be.EV’s chargers, see the Be.EV website.
