Electric vehicle event draws crowds to Weymouth seafront

Weymouth seafront was buzzing as Dorset Council hosted its first ever public electric vehicle (EV) engagement event, Go Electric! working with Let’s Experience Electric.

With the weather on our side and the annual Community Expo also taking place, the event attracted a wide mix of visitors, from passers by to people who had pre registered interest. Across the day, there were more than 400 conversations and 26 test drives, giving residents the chance to see a range of electric cars up close and ask questions.

The event focused on raising awareness of why more people are choosing EVs, helping to debunk common myths and explain how driving habits are changing as petrol and diesel cars are phased out of new sales from 2030.

Council officers also spoke with residents about planned on street charging in areas without off street parking, answering questions and sharing local plans.
