The quickest way to renew an item is online via our Libraries West website or via the Libraries West app.

You can also:

  • call us on 01305 224311, a member of staff can then renew your item over the phone for you
  • renew an item in person by visiting your local library

Reserving an item

The quickest way to reserve an item is online via our Libraries West website or via the Libraries West app.

Begin by signing In to your library account. From your account you can the view the online catalogue and search for an item. When you see an item you like, select 'Reserve'. You can then choose which library you would like to collect it from. 

You can also:

  • call us on 01305 224311, a member of staff can then reserve the item over the phone for you
  • reserve an item by visiting your local library. A member of staff will be happy to help you search the catalogue and place a reservation using a library computer

Chasing an item

We cannot tell you where your reservation is or when it will arrive. This is because several factors can affect delivery times.

We will contact you when your item is ready to collect. For more information, see our reservations page.

Suggest a library purchase

We welcome book suggestions for titles to include individually or as reading group sets, please use our online form to suggest a purchase.

Digital Champions

Digital Champions are a group of friendly and patient volunteers who can help you:

  • set up and using devices including mobile phones, tablets and computers
  • get online and show you how to do home shopping
  • access digital NHS services 
  • set up Skype or Zoom to keep in contact with family or friends

Donations

We welcome donations of books that are less than five years old and in good condition. Visit our donations page for further information. 

Bin and container collections

Before collecting a replacement bin, box or caddy, you must first report it as missing or damaged. Once you have completed the form, you will receive a unique reference number. Please bring this reference number with you when collecting your replacement.

If you would like to check that your collection point has the bin, box or caddy you need in stock, and you are collecting your replacement from a Dorset Council library, please call 01305 224311.
