We have a team of Registered Building Inspectors licenced at various Classes as detailed on the public register of the Building Safety Regulator. We have a fully resourced service of RBI’s and Technical Support officers to deal with Building Regulations in the Dorset Council Area.

What you need to do 

  • make a satisfactory building regulation application with all the information as required by the Building Regulations and Duty Holder requirements
  • ensure that you are employing competent persons to undertake your building project
  • give us as much notice as you can about when you need inspections
  • contact our Registered Building Inspectors before you build over any important part of the construction
  • make sure you provide safe access for your Building Inspector to undertake the required inspections, and you use ladders, scaffolding and lighting in a way that provides safe access for Duty Holders to the construction work being undertaken
  • tell us about any building work you have carried out without permission
  • let us know before 10am if you are going to miss, or be late for, an appointment
  • contact us before 10am if you want us to carry out inspections that day
  • make sure all duty holder statements are completed and signed by all duty holders and sent to us
  • send in all required certificates and photographs as required for your project
  • make sure you have the permissions and completion certificates for work done before you sell your property
  • your construction project must comply with all the relevant CDM Regulations and Health and Safety Regulations so that everyone is safe
  • your contractors and subcontractors carry out work to comply with all relevant requirements of the building regulations and any other legislation
