Due to the IRONMAN 70.3 event on Sunday 20 September, Weymouth Household Recycling Centre will be closed all day and Dorchester Household Recycling Centre will be closed from 9am to 2pm. Please use alternative sites or visit another day.

Swimming lessons

Lessons at 1610 Dorchester Sports Centre for children who are disabled

Suitable for children and young people aged 5 to 17 years.

Sessions run on:

Wednesdays 6pm to 6:45pm
Thursdays 6pm to 6:45pm main pool and 6:30pm to 7:10pm small pool
Saturdays midday to 12:45pm main pool and 12:15pm to 1pm small pool

The cost is £28 per month for one 45 minute session per week. This also entitles the child to swim at any public swim session.

All classes are taught by level 2 qualified swim coaches.

Lessons at Bridport Leisure Centre for children who are disabled

Suitable for children and young people aged 5 to 17 years.

There are 2 sessions run on Thursdays:

6pm to 6:45pm
6:45pm to 7:30pm

In 2025 there will be an increase to three new additional sessions on Thursdays after school.

All 45 minute sessions provide additional support in the water or poolside.

All classes are taught by level 2 qualified swim coaches.

Bridport Leisure Centre also offers a low sensory swimming session 2pm to 3pm every Sunday.

For children with disabilities aged 7 to 17 years

Short Breaks with Team Athletics

Enjoy fun sports and movement-based activities with Level 2 Athletics Coaches. Make friends and have the opportunity to learn new skills. All abilities are welcome, and support is offered to children who need 1:1 assistance (on application).

Saturday morning fun camps

Saturdays 9:30am to 12:30pm (block of 3 sessions per month)

Three full hours of fun with sports, arts, and play with 1:1 support from Artz+ Sportz+ Support Staff.

Sessions run in 3 different locations each month in rotation:

Weymouth Outdoor Education Centre

This block of three sessions will include a variety of activities such as tunnelling, climbing, soft play, games and sensory room.

Bridport Leisure Centre

This block will include weekly swim session, bouncy castle, diddy cars, soft play and ball games.

Prince of Wales Pre-School, Dorchester

This block will include a weekly swim, soft play and sensory room.
