Momentum is a course for young drivers who have recently passed their test. The course is split in 2 sections - an online assessment and on-road assessment.
LifeDrive is a free scheme that offers enjoyable and interactive enhanced theory and practical driver training, plus a £50 voucher for everyone completing the course!
Advice for parents of new drivers
Dorset Driver Gold is an older driver programme run by Safewise for drivers aged 65 and over, to refresh and update your driving knowledge and skills to keep you driving safely for longer.
Still Safe to Drive is an older driver resource from GEM Motoring Assist, a breakdown recovery provider and road safety charity.
Eyesight and keeping fit to drive
You must be able to read a number plate at a distance of 20 metres. Read about eyesight and driving rules on Gov.uk.

When should you stop driving?
You must renew your licence every 3 years after you turn 70 but there are no laws on what age you should stop driving. View the Gov.uk advice on deciding when to stop driving
If you decide to give up driving, there are alternative options such as public transport services and community transport. Dorset Partnership for Older People Programme (POPP) can offer advice and help to older residents.
Disability and driving
Having a medical condition or disability does not necessarily mean you can't or won't be allowed to drive. You must tell the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) about any medical condition or disability that may affect your driving. The Forum of Mobility Centresis a network of independent organisations in the UK, offering professional information, advice and assessment to individuals who have a medical condition or are recovering from an accident or injury which may affect their ability to drive or access a motor vehicle.
