Road re-texturing is a restoration treatment where the carriageway is blasted to restore surface texture.

The process is low cost and is generally used on roads in a good condition which just need improvements to skid resistance.

Carrying out the work

Road re-texturing is the process of blasting and cleaning the carriageway with water to roughen the road surface to restore micro and macro surface texture.

A specialist vehicle travels along the road first removing excess debris, and then blasts the carriageway with high pressure water to etch and refresh the surface aggregate. This increases the surface texture of the road, making the surface more skid resistant.

This machine simultaneously clears the detritus from the re-texturing process.

Work is done under a daytime road closure, with work taking place 9am to 4pm to avoid rush hour traffic.

To minimise disruption, there are a few things you can do to help us

Before work starts:

  • look out for yellow advance warning signs with specific details of the road closure (information about the work will be sent directly to any properties with frontages in the works area)

On the day and during the work:

  • please move your car off the road before the road is closed
  • please keep to signed diversion routes/paths
  • please keep children and pets well away from the work – for safety and cleanliness

After the work:

  • the road is ready to use immediately after the work
