If you are placing a skip on the highway, you must hire one from a skip company. The skip company must apply for a licence.
It's your responsibility to check they have the licence and that it doesn't run out before the building work is finished.
A licence and licence renewal is valid for 14 days.
Apply for a skip licence
You can apply for a skip licence if you are a contractor. You must apply at least 2 weeks before you need the skip on site.
Cost
It costs £93 for a new licence which is valid for 14 days.
It costs £47 to renew an existing licence which is valid for 14 days.
If you do not remove the skip before the licence expires, we will charge you £93.
Terms and conditions
The skip company must agree to our terms and conditions when they apply for a licence.
