Portable variable message sign (PVMS) licence

Portable variable message signs are electronic sign boards on trailers normally positioned to provide flexible messaging to traffic in events and roadworks areas, in real-time.

In most instances the messages displayed on the signs are remotely controlled.

You need to apply for permission to place one of these signs on the highway in Dorset. Please note that Dorset Highways Traffic Team decides upon the legend to be shown which will be stated in its approval.
