Town and village design statements (T&VDS) describe the distinctive characteristics of a town or village and provide design guidance to influence future development and improve the physical qualities of the area.

We have produced a  Town and Village Design Statement Guidance Note, which explains what is involved in producing a T&VDS. We carried out a  Town and Village Design Statement Screening Determination, which concluded that adopted T&VDS's were unlikely to have significant environmental effects and so did not require a strategic environmental assessment (SEA).
