The original version of the Bere Regis Neighbourhood Plan was made (adopted) on 25 June 2019. The parish council has undertaken a review and submitted the revised plan in May 2026. Following public consultation, it was independently examined. The next step is for the revised plan to be presented to Dorset Council’s Cabinet for a final decision.

Bere Regis Neighbourhood Plan Review

The examiner’s final report on the Bere Regis Neighbourhood Plan Review was issued on 7 October 2026. It concludes that a referendum is not required, and a small number of modifications are necessary for the revised plan to meet ‘basic conditions’. 

During the examination, the examiner wrote to Dorset Council and Bere Regis Parish Council with a number of questions. The two councils responded on 17 August. A further response was sent to the examiner on 14 September with comments relating to Local Green Space site 2 from both councils and from Aster Group. 

On 3 August 2026 the examiner accepted comments from Bere Regis Parish Council in response to comments made by Dorset Council during the Regulation 16 consultation. 

On 28 July 2026 the examiner wrote to Dorset Council and the parish council to clarify several initial procedural matters.

The original Bere Regis Neighbourhood Plan was formally made on Tuesday 25 June 2019 as shown on the decision notice.

The decision notice shows how the full Council meeting held on Tuesday 19th March 2019 decided the plan should proceed to referendum following the examiners report.
