The 15 week consultation period for the Core Strategy Options for Consideration ended on 14 January 2011. The document invited comments on a number of proposed themed options, many of which are common to both areas as well as specific sections relating to areas within Christchurch and East Dorset.
A consultation information document was produced, and provides details on how the Core Strategy Options for Consideration was consulted on during this period.
The main ways we invited people to comment on the document and the options it contained are summarised below.
Viewing documents and making comments online
We are using an online consultation system that allowed the Core Strategy Options for Consideration document to be read online and responses made electronically. The comments we have received on the document will also be available to view using the same system. The documents could also be downloaded as PDFs.
Viewing paper copies of the documents
The Core Strategy and the documents that supported it were made available to view at the Christchurch Borough and East Dorset District Council offices, all local libraries, town council offices and some parish council offices.
Leaflets were also made available for the main areas of change that were proposed in the Core Strategy Options for Consideration, including housing options for Corfe Mullen, Ferndown and West Parley, Verwood and West Moors, and Wimborne and Colehill, options for Christchurch, including proposals for new housing, and employment land options for East Dorset.
Public exhibitions
There were displays at the Civic Offices, Christchurch Borough Council and in planning reception at the East Dorset District Council Offices, Allenview House, Hanham Road, Wimborne that outlined the options for consideration. We held public exhibitions at venues in Christchurch, Corfe Mullen, Colehill, Ferndown, Highcliffe, Sturminster Marshall, St Leonards and St Ives, Verwood, West Parley and Wimborne.
