Parking charges
Pay and display parking charges apply to Blue Badge holders in Dorset Council car parks.
One hour of extra parking
If you pay for a parking session you can park for one hour extra with your Blue Badge. You can use the extra one hour of parking in any bay, including disabled bays.
You must display your blue badge and set the clock at the time you arrive.
Restricted mobility permit
If you have a restricted mobility permit, you can park for free for 3 hours, once per day. You can use the permit in any car park bay, including disabled bays.
You must display your Blue Badge with the permit and set the clock at the time you arrive.
The Restricted Mobility Car Park Permit costs £17 and expires at the same time as your Blue Badge.
Eligibility
You can apply for a Restricted Mobility Car Park Permit if you are a Blue Badge holder and receive one of the following:
- higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- 10 points or more on the 'Moving around' section in the 'Mobility component' of Personal Independence payment (PIP)
- higher rate mobility component of Child Disability Payment
- War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
- Attendance Allowance
Or you can evidence that the vehicle registered in the disabled person’s name or their nominated driver’s name is tax exempt (for disability reasons only)
The permit is valid in all our car parks, except:
- Avon Heath Country Park
- Dorchester, Trinity northern car park
- Durlston Country Park
- Moors Valley Country Park
- Thorncombe Wood Local Nature Reserve
Apply for a permit
Apply for a Restricted Mobility Car Park Permit. If your existing permit has expired or been lost, you will need to re-apply.
Exemption parking permits from the previous Dorset District Councils will remain valid until their expiry date and can be used across the Dorset Council area for this time.

Where you can park
You must park your vehicle within the bay markings. The pay and display charges apply to each space which is fully or partly occupied by a vehicle.
Some of our car parks have extra-wide designated 'disabled' parking spaces. Vehicles parked in 'disabled' spaces must have a valid Blue Badge clearly displayed, as well as a valid pay and display ticket and/or a Restricted Mobility Car Park Permit.
You cannot park on double yellow lines or on yellow hatched areas within the car parks.
Some spaces in our car parks are designated for use by other users (such as permit holders), or for use by specific types of vehicles (such as solo motorcycles). Blue Badge holders can't park their vehicles in these spaces unless they also hold the relevant permit, or unless their vehicle is of the type for which that space has been reserved.

Private and Town Council car parks in the Dorset Council area have different controls for Blue Badge parking. Please check the car park signs for instructions on payment and restrictions.
