Results for Swanage by-election announced

Residents of Swanage have voted, and the results are in for the July 2025 by-elections. 

One seat was available for the Dorset Council Swanage ward, one seat for the Swanage Town Council – Swanage South ward, and one seat for the Swanage Town Council – North ward, following the sudden death of Cllr Bill Trite in May this year. Cllr Trite had held the seats since 2019. 

The results for the Dorset Council Swanage ward, with 45.37 per cent turnout, are as follows: 

Therefore, Christopher James Tomes is duly elected.

The results of the Swanage Town Council – Swanage South ward, with 42.18 per cent turnout, are as follows: 

Therefore, Philip Derek Burridge is duly elected. 

The results of the Swanage Town Council – Swanage North ward, with 47.59 per cent turnout, are as follows: 

Therefore, Gary Maurice Suttle is duly elected. 

The next planned elections (for Dorset Council, town and parish councils in the Dorset Council area and the Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner) take place in May 2029. Find more information on our webpage.
