Results for Swanage by-election announced

Residents of Swanage have voted, and the results are in for the July 2025 by-elections

One seat was available for the Dorset Council Swanage ward, one seat for the Swanage Town Council – Swanage South ward, and one seat for the Swanage Town Council – North ward, following the sudden death of Cllr Bill Trite in May this year. Cllr Trite had held the seats since 2019. 

The results for the Dorset Council Swanage ward, with 45.37 per cent turnout, are as follows:

Poppy Maltby Liberal Democrats 737
Gemma Simmons Labour Party 400
Chris Tomes Local Conservatives 1254

Therefore, Christopher James Tomes is duly elected.

 

The results of the Swanage Town Council – Swanage South ward, with 42.18 per cent turnout, are as follows:

Phil Burridge Local Conservatives 534
James Mercer Labour Party 413
Bryan Taylor Independent 349
Chris Wood Independent 287

Therefore, Philip Derek Burridge is duly elected. 

 

The results of the Swanage Town Council – Swanage North ward, with 47.59 per cent turnout, are as follows:

Matt Piper Liberal Democrats 309
Gemma Simmons Labour Party 211
Gary Suttle Local Conservatives 900

Therefore, Gary Maurice Suttle is duly elected.
