Dorset set to mark Covid-19 Day of Reflection

Sunday 9 March 2025 is the National Day of Reflection across the UK for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dorset Council will mark the day with an informal gathering at Memorial Corner, outside County Hall in Dorchester at 11.55am followed by a minute of silence at 12pm.
People in Dorset are invited to the event to remember those who died during the Covid-19 pandemic and the sacrifices others made.
The event is hosted by Cllr Stella Jones, MBE, Chair of Dorset Council and HM Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Michael Dooley LVO.
The Memorial Corner, which includes the existing War Memorial area, was completely renovated and extended to include 11 new panels in memory of front-line workers who lost their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2022.
People attending the event are encouraged to lay flowers at the panels and to stay and reflect if they wish.
Cllr Jones said: “The day will mark five years since the start of the pandemic that affected us all deeply.
“The service will provide an opportunity to come together, remember those that are no longer with us, and to honour the hard work of key workers and those who volunteered their time and showed acts of kindness during unprecedented times.”
