Dinah’s Hollow update

A year-long project to stabilise the slopes at Dinah's Hollow

A reminder if you are travelling between Shaftesbury and Blandford that we are half-way through our year‑long project to prevent landslips on the C13 at Dinah’s Hollow.

This means some roads are closed and diversions are in place. A big thank you to everyone who has been following the signs rather than their sat nav.

To avoid delays and congestion, please follow the diversion signs. The alternative routes pass through small villages with narrow roads that are used by residents and people walking along the roadside.

And to help residents in Melbury Abbas, Iwerne Minster and Fontmell Magna, please:

• follow the signed diversion route only
• do not ignore road closed signs
• ignore your sat nav between Shaftesbury and Blandford (both directions) if it directs you away from the signed diversion route
• keep to the speed limits at all time

Traffic signals

Please also be patient through the two sets of temporary signals on the A350. They are there to allow a more equal traffic flow through the narrow villages, especially with the increased likelihood of HGVs meeting at pinch points. Trying to ‘jump’ the lights as they change to red disrupts the flow of traffic for everyone.

Keeping on track

With the recent heatwaves making working conditions exceptionally hot, we have taken the decision to work longer hours during the week to take advantage of slightly cooler conditions in the early morning and evening. We will also be working during the weekend too and have written to local residents to advise them of this.

We thank everyone for their patience and co-operation while we work to make Dinah’s Hollow safe for many years to come.
