Dorset Library Service booking conditions for reading group membership. There's an annual subscription charge of £50 per reading group per year.
Read the booking conditions for reading groups with Dorset Libraries:
- a £50 annual reading group subscription charge will be effective from 1 January 2018 and by placing an order for reading group sets you are agreeing to pay this subscription
- reading groups using a group card may only request titles from the current reading groups list
- the reading group list will be updated annually and copies will be available in libraries and online
- a minimum of one calendar month's notice is required to process a request
- titles can be requested for one calendar year in advance and we will advise when we are able to take bookings for the following calendar year
- requests may be made using the online form, or by printing a copy and returning it to the library; all requests must include the group name, library card number and a collection date
- groups can only borrow one complete reading group set per month; a maximum of 12 sets per annum
- each reading group set consists of 10 copies of standard print books and all 10 copies must be borrowed at the same time; if more copies are needed they should be requested by individual members on their personal tickets
- the reading group card can only be used to borrow a reading group set; large print, audiobook or DVD versions can be requested and borrowed on a personal ticket
- each reading group set is loaned to the group for 8 weeks; it is not possible to renew them, normal overdue costs apply to individual books. No further sets can be borrowed whilst a set is overdue. Please make every effort to return all copies on time as any delay impacts the next group waiting to borrow the set
- the designated group contact is responsible for items on loan; if one or more books are lost or damaged the group will be charged for new copies
- Dorset Libraries will make every effort to supply requested titles from the list but cannot guarantee they will be available; if we cannot supply your choice, we reserve the right to supply an alternative title
- we welcome suggestions for titles to includes as sets, with purchases subject to the Collection Development Policy and budget considerations
