Dorset Archives Trust  is an independent charitable body who support the work of Dorset History Centre and the preservation and promotion of the county's written heritage in general.

Dorset Archives Trust has three main roles:

  1. Advocacy: Raising the profile of the Trust and Dorset History Centre

  2. Fundraising: Raising funds for projects to support the work of the History Centre

  3. Collections development: Identifying archival collections relating to the county currently in private hands, and promoting the benefits of deposit at the History Centre to the owners of such collections

The generous donations supplied by the Trust enable Dorset History Centre to provide the highest standard of care possible to the archives. One of the greatest ways they support our work is through the sponsor-a-box programme; just £10 pays for the purchase of a new, acid free archive box together and acid free and pH neutral materials which are used to wrap up archives, and increase their longevity.
