As a newly qualified social worker, you will be joining a challenging but hugely rewarding profession making a difference to the lives of many of our most vulnerable residents.

What we can offer you as a newly qualified starter

To support you in the first year, we run a comprehensive ASYE programme. It’s designed to support your journey from initial training to becoming a confident professional.

You will have a reduced workload and a day a fortnight protected development time. You’ll attend monthly support groups which give you the opportunity to learn about a range of topics, bring issues and dilemmas from practice to explore in the group. This will also provide the opportunity to network with colleagues and get help and advice developing your portfolio.

You will also be allocated a mentor/assessor who will support your learning and development throughout the year. There are regular reviews of progress with the mentor/assessor and line manager so that support can be tailored to your individual needs.

What our recent finishers had to say

“Really useful supervision sessions with lots of reflection.”

“Very good quality support.”

“My mentor was brilliant.”
