Grants and loans for homes in disrepair

We are able to offer financial help to home owners, tenants or landlords to carry out works of repair or improvement.

We also offer help and financial assistance to support disabled residents to safely access facilities within the home. These grants are provided by the Dorset Accessible Homes Service.

The types of grants and loans

The range of assistance includes:

  • Disabled Facilities Grants provide financial assistance to carry out major adaptations to the homes of disabled people. For further information contact the Dorset Accessible Homes Service

  • energy efficiency grants to help with the cost of providing loft or cavity wall insulation. Further advice on these grants can be found on our energy efficiency pages

  • Heat Melcombe Regis; a Dorset Council partnership scheme, can provide grants for free first time gas fired central heating in and around Melcombe Regis. Residents of Melcombe Regis, Littlemoor, Underhill, Westham East, Westham North, Westham West or Weymouth East Wards will automatically qualify for some, or all, of the available funding. Grants for gas boiler upgrades and free energy advice information is also available

  • we can offer homeowners, occupiers and landlords loans for major repair and renovation works to their homes. The loans are funded by Dorset Council and administered by the councils partner; Lendology Community Interest Company (CIC) (formerly known as Wessex Resolutions CIC). Lendology CIC’s team of advisers will guide you through the process of applying for a home improvement loan, assess your eligibility, how much you could borrow and the loan best suited to your circumstances.
