Find out the ratings of food businesses in Dorset

All food businesses, that supply food direct to the final consumer are included in the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. The food hygiene rating reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of the inspection by Dorset Council. The food hygiene rating is not a guide to food quality.

The scheme covers many businesses throughout the UK. Businesses are encouraged to display stickers where they can be easily seen.

What the food hygiene ratings mean

There are six different food hygiene ratings representing the level of compliance with legal requirements.

  • 5 Very good
  • 4 Good
  • 3 Generally satisfactory
  • 2 Improvement needed
  • 1 Major improvement needed
  • 0 Urgent improvement necessary

Which businesses are given a rating

Businesses which provide food directly to consumers such as restaurants, take-aways, cafes, pubs, hotels, small food shops, supermarkets, and other retail food outlets where consumers can eat or buy food.
