Disposing of sandbags

You must dispose of sandbags yourself if you no longer need them.

Unused sandbags

You can empty the sand into your garden if you have one. Put the empty sack in the household rubbish bin, or take it to a recycling centre.

Used sandbags

Handle the bags with care using gloves and take them to a recycling centre. Sandbags go in the rubble skip (charges apply). Gel bags go in the landfill skip.

Do not put contaminated sand or bags in your household waste collection.
