Rolling vales historic information

Mixed but piecemeal enclosure and small-scale planned enclosure dominate, with some enclosed strip fields, particularly in the vicinity of settlements. A greater woodland element, with larger areas of woodland, than e.g. Limestone Hills. There are large areas (particularly areas of less organised enclosure) where the character of the field boundaries suggests that they may well be surviving prehistoric or Romano-British boundaries and trackways.
