An ancient drove track used by the people of Sturminster Newton to access the ‘Poor Land’ they were allowed to graze and crop by the Hinton St. Mary Estate. The large coppice stools of Ash Hazel, Field Maple and Oak lining the track are now trees and illustrate what happens when management of our countryside stops. In the spring when surrounded by Bluebells, it provides an enchanting and shady place to walk to the town centre and rights of way beyond.
