Short breaks

Short breaks, also known as respite care, for children and young people with special educational needs and or disabilities (SEND) provide an opportunity for the child to have fun and the parents to have a break too.

If your child is eligible for Children and Young People's Continuing Care they may be able to access short breaks.

Each case is looked at on an individual basis. This is so that we can assess clinical needs and match these with short breaks providers who can meet complex health needs.

Contact the children's team on if your child receives Children and Young People Continuing Care. We can talk more with you about considering your child or young person for a short break.

See our Family Information Directory to find out more about short breaks.
