Summer in Dorset 2021

Summer in Dorset 2021 is made up of different parts, including:

Holiday, activity and food programme

We have funding from the Department for Education's (DfE) holiday activities and food programme again this year. This funding means we can offer fun activities and tasty meals free of charge to children who are eligible for benefit-related school meals.

We've been working closely with local organisations, holiday clubs and activity providers to make sure there's a variety of activities available that appeal to children and young people of all ages and abilities.

If your child is eligible for benefit-related free school meals they're also eligible for a Summer in Dorset pass code. If you registered your child for Easter in Dorset you do not need to sign up again; your pass code will still be valid. Contact us if you've lost your pass code and we can find it for you.

Sign up for free activities

Sign up to register your child for free activities this summer if your child is eligible for benefit-related free school meals.

Contact our Summer in Dorset team if you need help signing up.

Once you sign up we'll send you your Summer in Dorset pass code by text or email. Keep your code somewhere safe as you'll need it to book free places on holiday activities throughout the year.

Many of the activities that accept the pass code will also be open to fee-paying customers too.

If you're not eligible for free school meals you can search for activities in your area on our Family Information Directory.

Activities for children with SEND

Summer in Dorset 2021 is different from last year's offer. In last year's programme we provided funding for free activities for children with an education, health and care (EHC) plan. This year the funding for free activities is for children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

To make sure we're still supporting all our families we're using Summer in Dorset as an opportunity to encourage all providers to be as inclusive as possible. We're offering more funding and training to make sure our providers have the support they need to make activities suitable for children and young people with SEND.

More organisations are now offering activities (with a cost) for children with SEND. Search the Help and Kindness website for suitable activities.
Contact the activity providers if you want to know more about accessibility or you have any concerns.

Children and young people with continuing healthcare

If your child is eligible for continuing healthcare they may be able to access short breaks.

Early years education support

If your child is due to start school for the first time this September they may be eligible for some extra support from your current childcare provider over the summer holidays. This support is to make sure they have the right skills for a smooth transition to school.

These sessions are only for children who get 15 hours of funded childcare. They should be due to start school in September and either:

Speak to your childcare provider if you think your child is eligible.

Contact us if your childcare provider does not offer early years education support

Not all childcare settings can offer education support sessions. If your setting cannot offer these sessions we can help you find another setting that may be able to help. Contact us for more information.

As well as all the fun activities we also want to help families get access to tasty and nutritious food over the holidays.
